So everything is going great, right? WRONG. I got mugged. Any time someone takes your stuff and violates your safety, it sucks. But he did it at Wrigley. Right by the Billy Williams statue, right where I always stand before games, at the place I have always felt the most happy and fulfilled.
The guy who stole my stuff took off, but four guys who were standing with me, and two I barely knew, took off after the guy. One of my friends was an off-duty cop, and they caught the mugger, but my friend got kind of beat up. Meghan took some photos when the backup arrived.
Then, not only did he take my stuff and mess up the phone, but he also ruined our day. We had to spend the entire day at the police station. This was the day Meghan had splurged on really great seats right behind home plate. But we didn't get to the game until the fifth inning.
Here are our seats. We were sitting amongst the snobbiest people I have ever sat with at Wrigley. Seriously, I would never pay to sit in these seats again. Usually, my Wrigley experiences are decent, even when people are kind of wild. But these people were jerks. Rich people.
When I got to the game, Chris Volstad was just leaving to be relieved by Alberto Cabrera, and the Cubs were down 5-1. The Pirates scored one more before the inning was over.
But things got better when Joe Mather homered to start off the bottom of the fifth.
Then Darwin singled.
Here's Starlin Castro's family nearby. I think they were in the "less snobby" section.
Rizzo homered, driving in two runs.
Then Soriano singled.
Wellington singled to drive him in, and by the end of the fifth, the Cubs were only down 6-5.
Pedro Alvarez hit a three-run homer in the sixth, making me sad. In the bottom of the sixth, Valbuena and LaHair both singled, and then both of them advanced a base on a wild pitch.
Joe Mather walked to load the bases.
Then Darwin singled to drive in Valbuena.
Then, like the savior he is, Anthony Rizzo hit a grand slam, and the Cubs had a 10-9 lead.
Here's Steve.
Here's McCutchen, and he struck out.
Here's Darwin.
Here's Garrett Jones, who walked in the top of the seventh.
Lee Smith sang the stretch.
Here's Adrian Cardenas pinch hitting.
Here's Jeff Clement, who I met earlier in the week.
In the bottom of the eighth, Darwin Barney walked, and Soriano doubled to drive him in. Then Tony came in to run for Sori. I just love when this kid's on base.
Castro singled.
Here's Matt Garza being awesome.
Here's the fastest man alive, Tony Campana.
David DeJesus singled, driving in two runs.
The Cubs ended up winning the game 13-9.
Brian LaJair and me.

Since our day was ruined, we decided to stay for one more game. We would see the last game of the Pirates series tomorrow.
