Here she is with Wandy Rodriguez.
I introduced her to the wonder that is Garrett Jones. Of course, since he used to be a Twin, we were already fans, but seeing him in person made us even bigger fans.
The Chicago Public School Teacher's Union was on strike. Here they are picketing.
I teach, but not in a public school. My friend Nick is part of the union, and I stand behind him!
If only this sign were possible....
There were just a few short games left to enjoy with my boys. They were, as usual, in good spirits.
Garrett
Neil Walker
Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Jesse White Tumblers performed before the game. It was awesome!
Chris Rusin and Steve discuss strategies
Oh, Anthony
Our seats gave us more of a view of the dugout than usual. These sweet seats were courtesy of Meghan.
All of my bullpen boys.
DeJesus doubled in the first but he was stranded. But how cute does everyone look walking back together?
Chris Rusin is on the mound against James MacDonald for Pittsburgh.
Cubs scored one in the third and three in the fourth.
The Pirates scored one in the fifth.
Here's Gorgeous Jones. He had a good game. Here in the sixth inning, he singled, then reached second on a Gaby Sanchez single, a single which also drove in a run.
James Russell came on to relieve Rusin, who had pitched fine, but was leaving with a 4-2 lead and loaded bases with one out.
I love this guy.
Pittsburgh got one more run in the sixth, but the Cubs still led 4-3.
In the bottom of the sixth, with Valbuena and Soriano on base, Castro homered. Cubs lead 7-3.
With one out in the top of the 7th, Manny Corpas came on in relief.
And of course, Andrew McCutchen hit a home run, because that is just what he does.
Gorgeous Jones also singled in the 7th, but he was left on base. Here's some pictures of him on base...
...and one of him in the field.
Shawn Camp came on in relief in the 8th.
Carlos Marmol came on to give us heart attacks in the ninth.
Rizzo is worried. But no need to be. Marmol hit Alex Pressley but other than that, it was a quiet inning.
Cubs win 7-4!
Meghan got to meet some of the Cubs. Here's Tony Campana.
Here's Michael Bowden.
Here's The Clev.
Oh my goodness. Guess who got to meet her inspiration, the lovely Kim DeJesus? Yes. It was me. Also notice my red shirt supporting the teachers! All day, everyone thought i was a teacher. Well, the shirt also said I was a teacher...
David DeJesus came around too!
I am not going to lie--I have no idea who this guy is.
Chris Rusin!
I'm not going to tell you exactly how we got a flat tire, but I will say that people shouldn't leave dumpsters with big levers sticking out.
This guy from AAA helped us out, though. He cheered us up, and he also told us of a cheap tire place nearby.

Bahahaha... the infamous flat tire.
