Game #42 St. Louis at Cubs, 7/28/12

Amber was down visiting from Minnesota. She had never been to Wrigley, and I really wanted to watch Bryce Harper play in person, so we decided to do something amazing. Two games at two different parks in one day.

Our first game was St. Louis at Chicago. And there we met Jeff Beliveau, just called up from AAA.

Everyone's first trip to Wrigley is special. I love being the one who takes that person there.

Here's Rizzo and LaHomer.

Lucky us, Jeff Samardzija was pitching.

In the first inning, Matt Holliday walked to load the bases.

Then Carlos Beltran grounded into a fielder's choice, driving in Skip Schumaker.

Here's Brian LaHair in right field. I have never sat in the 200 section in right field before. I kind of like it. Different view. Tickets to this game were hard to get so this was the best I could do, but it worked out.

Samardzija calmed down and got out of the inning.

Good angle for me to see my bullpen boys.

Awesome leadoff man David DeJesus tripled to start the bottom of the first.

Castro doubled, sending David to third.

Then Soriano tripled, giving the Cubs a 2-1 lead.

Look at all the red in the crowd! St. Louis fans are definitely the most dedicated fans in MLB. Maybe Giants fans come close, but they don't come in droves to Cubs games like Cards fans do.

Good old Santo.

The Rizzman.

Jeff was awesome the rest of the game.

St. Louis scored again in the sixth to tie it. In the 7th, Reed Johnson drove in a run to give the Cubs the lead, and they never lost it. Cubs won 3-2.
