The Twins scored early and ended the top of the first 1-0.
Nick Blackburn starting against Jake Peavy.
I always feel most confident with Joe Mauer behind the plate.
Love this guy.
The Twins looked good against Peavy.
Ventura never worries. And in the bottom of the second, the Sox scored two runs and were now ahead 2-1.
In the bottom of the third, Beckham singled.
De Aza followed up with a single, as did Youk, and Beckham scored.
Joe Mauer is known for taking frequent breaks to the pitcher.
Konerko sacrificed to bring in another run.
In the top of the fourth, Mauer reached on a Viciedo error.
Willingham walked.
Here's Morneau, never safe at the plate.
Morneau doubled to drive in Mauer, cutting the Sox lead to 4-2.
Viciedo hit a homer with Ramirez on base. Sox up 6-2.
Then Flowers doubled.
But Joe talked to Nick and they worked it out and no more damage was done.
Denard tried to get things going with a double to start off the fifth.
Somehow Viciedo got hurt.
No one scored.
In the bottom of the fifth, Rios hit a two-run shot. Ouch. Then Casey Fien came in on relief and nothing else happened.
Morneau flew out.
But Doumit singled.
And then Dozier singled.
But that was that.
Dozier is ready to get back to bat.
It was sooooo hotttttt
Nothing much happened. Bottom of the 7th, Jared Burton came on in relief.
Konerko singled but that was it.
Top of the 8th, with Leyson Septimo pitching for Chicago, Mauer grounded out and no one else could do anything either.
Justin Morneau is hoping for some rallying.
Glen Perkins came on in relief in the 8th. He PMKI.
Top of the ninth. Twins last chance. With Jordan Danks in left field and Jesse Crain pitching against his former teammates, the Twins wanted a come-from-behind victory.
Brian Dozier walked.
Mastroianni walked.
Brian and Gordon befriended one another. It makes sense. They both have great hair.
Denard Span walked. Bases loaded.
The Sox brought in Hector Santiago with two out.
And that was that. Twins lose 8-2.
