Angela stopped at Sprinkles to buy Josh some birthday cupcakes.
Last year at a Cubs game, we met Alejandra, who is the biggest Aramis Ramirez fan who ever lived. Once after a game last year, he stopped and signed for her, and even took a picture. She was overjoyed--I think she even cried. This year she spoke to him during batting practice and he came over, took a picture with her and signed for her, Angela and me. He loves her.
Here's Ryan Braun!
Steve is starting, so life is good!
Here's Brett Jackson
Justin Germano started the game. To start the game, Aoki singled. Germano kept his eye on him at first.
Birthday boy
Ryan hit into a fielder's choice.
Then Aramis doubled, driving in Ryan.
Here's the requisite 900 pictures of Ryan being a weirdo.
Early in the game, and emotions ran high.
Hello, sailors.
Nothing else really happened. In the bottom of the third, here's Steve on deck getting warmed.
Ryan
Oh, this? This is just the ball Darwin threw me the day he broke the fielding record.
DeJesus singled and Rizzo drove him home with a single. Then Fonsi doubled, driving in Rizzo.
Castro singled, driving in Sori. The Clev walked, then both Castro and The Clev advanced a base when Marco Estrada had a wild pitch. Cubs left the inning ahead 3-1.
In the top of the fourth, Lucroy doubled, but he just hung out there.
It's okay, Ryan, because you and Aramis and Weeks help the Brewers score three more in the top of the fifth, pushing the Brewers ahead 4-3.
Rickie Weeks singled, then Braun doubled, driving in Weeks.
He advanced to third on the throw to get Weeks out at home.
And then Aramis homered.
Hi.
One out at some point. Thanks for the info, birthday boy.
Steve tries to comfort Justin.
Angela's mustache.
It's a beautiful day for a Ho Pun.
Samrdzija and Garza chill.
Carlos Gomez singled, so Michael Bowden came in to pitch the rest of the top of the sixth.
And here's Steve again.
Gomez stole second, then advanced to third on am Ishikawa fly out. Aoki drove him home with a single. Brewers lead 5-3.
I don't know what bee is in Dale's bonnet right at this moment.
Here's Ryan again, in case you were wondering.
Here's my friend Kameron Loe to pitch the bottom of the sixth.
Hopeful fans.
Their hope helped. Brett Jackson homered, cutting the deficit to 5-4.
Darwin singled, and here comes Bryan LaHomer to hit for Bowden.
LaHomer doubled.
Barney waiting at third.
But the Cubs couldn't bring them home.
Top of the seventh. Here's Ryan again. Peculiar lad. He singled, but he didn't score.
Seventh inning stretch featured Buddy Guy.
Francisco Rodriguez came to pitch the seventh.
John Axford begins to warm.
Our famous baseballs.
Gomez singled off Manny Corpas in the eighth. Then new kid Alex Hinshaw came on to pitch the ninth.
Axford warming still.
Here's where the game took a turn for the worse.
Aoki walked, then Weeks singled bringing Ryan up to bat.
Braun homered.
Ramirez homered.
Corey Hart homered.
That was it for Alex. In came Lendy Castillo.
These guys discuss.
Now here was a weird sight. Joe Mather warming up in the bullpen?
The Brewers scored three more times. After Braun singled to drive in a run, the Cubs used their secret weapon.
Joe Mather.
Other than a Bianchi single that drove in Aoki, he did a great job.
Here's Ryan running to third.
So, needless to say, the Cubs lost 15-4.
But here we are with Cubs ace pitcher Joe Mather in his new haircut.
