However, I did get to see former Cub D.J. Lemahieu, which was somewhat exciting......
AND TYLER COLVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We missed him so much! He was ALWAYS good to the fans! Always! And he was such a great young player (and former stab victim) that we were literally heartbroken when he was traded. I am not exaggerating. Angela and I wore black for a week.
But we were reunited!
Then I saw Ferguson Jenkins!!!!!!!!!!!! What a day!
We had our regulaw Michael Bowden visit.
I loved his shoes!
Joey Mather (who, if I remember correctly, is wearing Tyler's old number and is the only one nice enough to earn that honor) is friendly with the Rockies.
Here's awesome Samardzija, pitching today against Drew Pomeranz.
Look at those numbers....I miss him
Our old friends.
We saw his major league debut a year earlier
The Rockies took an early 1-0 lead when Jonathan Herrera scored on a wild pitch.
Then in the second, they got on the board again with a Chris Nelson homer.
Angela got a foul ball. And strangely, this family came over and wanted a picture with her and the ball.
Here's Sharky, still looking like a winner.
We could do literally nothing against Drew. And then in the third inning, Carlos Gonzalez hit a home run.
The Shark tried to help himself out in the third, but still nothing.
Soriano was like, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! And he hit a solo homer in the sixth.
Later that inning Wellington Castillo hit another homer, making it 3-2 Rockies.
Here's Chris Rusin, newly called up from AAA.
We were worried, but not so badly worried.
We enjoyed a Glenn Beckert stretch.
Good old Tyler. Wrong uniform, kiddo.
James Russell came in to relieve Shawn Camp in the top of the eighth.
Tyler Colvin
Michael Bowden
Okay back to the game. In the bottom of the eighth, Brett Jackson homered to tie the game at 3.
But the Cubs meant business. They like to win Samardzija's games for Russell. Valbuena doubled.
Then JoJo our BroBro singled to drive Valbuena in, pushing the Cubs ahead 4-3.
This guy was so excited he peed his pantaloons!
DJ LeMahieu helped out his former team with an error that put JoJo on third.
Matt Reynolds came in to pitch. Angela and I met him before the game.
She's adorable.
He's wonderful.
Mather scored when Reynolds misplaced a Rizzo grounder. Cubs lead 5-3. Look how nice Joe is to collect the bats. Seriously--nicest guy in the game.
Josh Vitters got to third on the error.
But that was it for the inning. As a special treat, DeJesus entered the game in right field in the ninth.
And JoJo stayed on in left field.
Here's Marmol? Will he Marmol it up?
Just a Nelson double.
Cubs win! Mather and Jackson celebrates as DeJesus looks jealously on.
And we talked to Josh Vitters after the game.
