And here's Garrett Jones. But Angela and I call him Gorgeous Jones. Actually, I think Meghan came up with that later.
Oh yeah. Then we ran into Andrew McCutchen outside. Ever heard of him? He didn't have time to pose for a picture, but I swear one day it shall happen! In the meantime, this counts.
Funny story. Angela and I are poor. After autographs we always go across the street and count our loose change to see if we can afford something on the dollar menu to tide us over, since we know we won't have money to buy food in the ballpark.
Here's the slightly smaller team warming up. I can only imagine the story Samardzija is telling Dale.
Here's McCutchen. Dreeeeeeammmmmy
Here's Angela and Danny, the equipment manager. He's just a kid. The story of how he got his job is ridiculous. The old Cubs GM dialed the wrong number and got Danny. Then, long story short, he offered Danny a job.
Gorgeous Jones
Here we are trying on Steve's equipment.
Adrian Cardenas is BACKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve is in his spot as starting catcher, as he should be. Although--Dale said that he would split the time between The Clev and Castillo.
Angela can't get over meeting Andrew McCutchen. One of the best athletes in the world.
LaHomer signs.
Here's Blake.
I would like to tell a story where Steve is actually pointing to me here, but how do I explain who took the photo?
Good old Casey Coleman on the mound.
McCutchen singled with Snider on base.
Then Gorgeous Jones (I mean, he is good-looking on a DeJesus caliber) walked.
Then Neil Walker hit a grand slam. Ouch. Rizzo and The Clev tried to console Coleman but to no avail.
That was all the scoring for a while. Scott Maine came on to relieve with two outs in the bottom of the fifth.
Here's Scott Maine batting in the sixth. We never get to see him bat!
Seriously, though, we couldn't do a thing against A.J. Burnett. Not a thing.
Literally. Not a thing. He was no-hitting us.
David DeJesus managed a walk in the sixth.
Oh, and David also stole second, btw. But he didn't score and still no hits for the Cubs.
Here's more lame scoring by the Pirates. Travis Snider walked in the seventh.
Then McCutchen doubled.
Neil Walker sacrificed, scoring Snider.
Jeff Beliveau came in to relieve and got us out of the inning.
In case you were wondering Poi Dog Pondering took care of the stretch.
In the bottom of the eighth, Barney was hit by a pitch.
Just so you know, Barney survives, but he does leave the game. Jeff Baker runs for him.
Then Baker stole second.
Adrian Cardenas, fresh from AAA is up.
And with two out in the bottom of the eighth....
Cardenas singles to break up the no-hitter. Everyone applauds Burnett.
Baker moved to third.
And that was the only hit Burnett gave up.
Shawn Camp came to finish up the ninth.
McCutchen's numbers are ridiculous.
Cubs lose 5-0. But mean Scott Maine did sign autographs. And he promised a picture next time.
Luis Valbuena just kept walking.
