As usual, it's all fun and games at the start for warmups and batting practice.
Angela and I were excited for another fun game.
David DeJesus stopped by to say hi.
Jeff Baker signed! This is very rare. He has a thing with crowds.
Of course our brother Joe Mather stopped by.
Hello Reed Johnson!
This usher is very Milwaukee.
Our seats were great! Miller Park is the kind of place where you can get tickets at any price--literally. In fact, if you get there early enough, you can stand in line to buy Uecker seats until they run out. Totally nosebleed but only a dollar, and you get in the park. Our seats were third row, third base side. I try to get as close to Ryan Braun as I can.
Bryan LaHomer stopped by. He was slowly warming up to our charms.
Speaking of Ryan Braun....
After a very quiet first inning, Zack Greinke appeared to lose it. Alfonso doubled.
LaHomer grounded out, but he advanced Fonsie to third.
Clevenger grounded out.
Darwin Barney walked
It really looked like, even with two outs, we might do something and the bases were loaded. Especially when Greinke pitched a 53mph ball to pitcher Paul Maholm. But Paul struck out so that was that.
Paul kept up the good work through the next couple innings.
In the fourth inning, Aoki doubled, and then so did Braun, driving in Aoki. And I knew you'd want to see a lot of photos of Ryan Braun so I got that covered.
It was only 1-0--we still believed.
However, after a Corey Hart single, a Cody Ransom double, and a Brooks Conrad single, the Brewers were up 4-0 by the end of the fourth inning.
Top of the fifth, Ian Stewart struck out but reached first on the wild pitch of Greinke. But that was it.
Randy Wells came in to pitch the fifth.
Aoki doubled and reached third on a rare DeJesus error. Then Aoki scored on a Hart sacrifice.
Here's Ryan Braun. He walked that inning.
Here's Braun the weirdo biting his nails.
Manny Corpas came to pitch the seventh.
In the top of the 8th, Ian Stewart singled.
But Reed Johnson and everyone else struck out so nothing happened.
However, Ian Stewart and Corey Hart became best friends that day at first base.
Here comes Marmol in the eighth. Can he Marmol it up a little more? Of course!
Here's our faces before Marmol. So hopeful. We were only down 5-0!
After Edwin Maysonet and Martin Maldonado singles, a young rookie named Taylor Green came to the plate.
He went ahead and hit his first career home run, and suddenly the Brewers are ahead 8-0.
Ian Stewart was like, oh no.
And that was that. The Cubs lost 8-0.
